Burned and burning
On writing & allodynia, sort of
*no recording today... you'll get it
Morning darklings,
I was on my way into my creative room. Rory Pretty Paws was waiting on the arm of the wingback chair for me, and my brain was buzzing with the next part of my book. I just had to grab my tea.
I had put the Earl Grey pot on its usual tray to carry it with me. It was still steeping, and steam rose from the spout. The strength of the scent after 2 minutes made my mouth water.
I misguided the location of the teapot. It wasn't fully in the center. It slid to the edge of the metal tray. I tried to correct it a little. It was a lost cause, so I let go. Too late, though. The boiling water had already splashed down my legs.
It was so hot it became cold again.
After the breathing and the burn cream I keep on hand 200% of the time and the pacing and the moaning, the writing excitement came back. My insides were still wanting to write.
I had to sit at a specific angle, wear specific pajamas, be in the other room that was more temperate, but I managed.
Then I had an itch on my spine. Like a normal person, I scratched at it. Unlike many people, the place I scratched starting burning too. My allodynia was on high alert because of the water burn.
Oh, cool.
Still, I really wanted to write. But with what focus at that point? I had already smoked a lot and added another pain patch. Not sure I could articulate harm and the body,
I realized that I was going to send out a meme newsletter today that I was going to make around 7.
After all the hubaloo, it was after 7.
So I wrote this instead.
Hm.
Maybe I have more focus than I thought. I still clearly need to reset my nervous system before I dig into research, but the pain is ebbing with my meds and distraction (though the redness is worsening).
Off to chill for a bit. Hear that helps.
Until next time, harness the Little darknesses and embrace the Little things.
